MY DAILY EMAIL SENT ON JUNE 17, 2018
Hello folks,

I left Walla Walla, Washington around 8:30 this morning. I had a 281 mile drive ahead of me to Boise, Idaho. Most of that drive was on Interstate 84 in the northeast corner of Oregon. My first picture is from a scenic view off Interstate 84 at the beginning of my drive.

It was another beautiful day. You could see forever from that scenic view. The drive in general through northeast Oregon was very pleasant. I saw a sign on the Interstate that said "exit here to see historic arch bridge." So I did. The Upper Perry Arch is a 312-foot-long bridge with a main span comprised of a 134-foot-long reinforced concrete rib deck arch over the Grande Ronde River, and a 175-foot-long concrete viaduct crossing over the Union Pacific Railroad corridor.

I was starving by the time I got to Baker City so I stopped for some lunch at McDonalds. There weren't a lot of choices. Shortly before crossing the Idaho state line I left the Pacific Time Zone and am now back in the Mountain Time Zone. I arrived in Boise shortly before 3:00 and checked into my Hyatt Place Hotel in downtown Boise. It's just three blocks from the state capitol which is in the picture below.

After getting settled at the hotel I drove around the city a bit. You get a nice view of the city from the Boise Depot.

Below is another picture from the same place but a little closer view of the Boise skyline.

A 9-foot high bronze statue of Abraham Lincoln sits in Julia Davis Park in downtown Boise. The statue is an enlarged replica of a statue sculpted by famed artisan and Idaho native Gutzon Berglum, the sculptor of Mount Rushmore. It is the third largest seated Lincoln statue in the world.

I touched ole Abe and about burnt my hand. He was very hot in the 90 degree sunshine.

I just finished dinner from Sizzler and am about to finish my day by signing into Netflix. I've finished off the latest season of Grace & Frankie. Time to start watching season two of the Crown.

Good night all,

Tim
