Today I drove 156 miles traveling from Evanston, Wyoming to Farmington, Utah.

Howdy, I had to alter my plans for today a bit. I wanted to take the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway through the Uinta Mountains to Park City and then on into Salt Lake City. But the road is not open yet so I had to take the boring Interstate to Park City instead. Below is a picture of Main Street in Park City. Driving down Main Street was the only thing I did in Park City.  I got to Salt Lake City over four hours ahead of my plan since I couldn't do the stuff in the mountains. My first stop was at Temple Square. The first thing I did was go to the top of the Church of Latter Day Saints Office Building.  From the 26th floor you get a nice view of the city. Below is looking out onto the state capitol building.  The only bad thing about the observation deck is you have to be escorted up by a guide. You can't go up on your own. In the picture below you can see the Temple.  When I got back down to ground level I walked around Temple Square. I was disappointed that they don't let tourists go into the Temple itself.  Next I drove over to the State Capitol for a few photos. This is the fifth state capitol I've seen in the past eight days.  The picture below was taken from the capitol steps looking out onto the city.  Next I drove down State Street from the capitol and ate lunch at KFC. Do you know what is special about this KFC? I'll tell you tomorrow. I got the famous bowl and added two chicken wings. I was shocked to see that they charged $2.08 for one wing.  After lunch I drove out to see the Great Salt Lake.  Next I drove to my hotel. I am staying in Farmington about twenty miles north of the city. This was in order to get my free room at Hyatt Place.  Tonight I had to endure stopped trafic on Interstate 15 while retrieving my dinner from Sizzler. It was only a few miles away and it took forever to get there. I'm really only inching closer to the coast. Tonight's hotel is only 76.3 miles from last nights. Thanks for reading my emails. I hope they aren't too boring. Tim |
