Hello all,
I hope you are all having a good weekend. I ate a little breakfast at the hotel this morning before checking out. I didn't have a whole lot on the schedule today so I didn't get my usual early start. The first thing I did was drive 45 miles to Snoqualmie Falls. I was glad to have left the Seattle area traffic. It was stop and go even on Saturday morning. Snoqualmie Falls is a 268-foot waterfall located east of Seattle on the Snoqualmie River. It is one of Washington's most popular scenic attractions, but is perhaps best known for its appearance in the cult television series Twin Peaks.
After leaving the waterfall I hopped on Interstate 90 and started my east bound trek home. I managed to not get pulled over by the police this time. In 2014 a cop pulled me over for speeding in this area. He didn't give me a ticket because he liked my travel videos on YouTube. 112 miles into my journey near Vantage, Washington I visited Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park. You get a nice view of the Columbia River from the park.
My next stop was on top of that hill you see across the river in the picture above. You access the scenic view from Interstate 90.
The bridge is Interstate 90 just outside Vantage, Washington.
It was a very scenic area. Perched above the overlook is the Wild Horse Monument. A public art sculpture created by David Govedare in 1989. It consists of 15 life-size steel horses which appear to be galloping across a ridge above the Columbia River.
There were people walking the trail to the top. I did not. I don't know who the shirtless fat guy is. He was standing there the entire time I was here. From there it was only a 41 mile drive to Moses Lake where I checked into the Holiday Inn Express and called it a day.
It was cool this morning in Tacoma. I had to put on a jacket when I was walking around Snoqualmie Falls. But as soon as I got away from the coast the temperature rose fast. It's almost 90 here in Moses Lake. I'm now deciding where I want to eat dinner.
Until tomorrow,
Tim
