Hello people,
I set out this morning at 9:00. I drove about ninty miles southwest to the southeast corner of the state of Washington. There's not a lot to see here in eastern Washington. Rolling hills and a lot of farm land.
Palouse Falls lies on the Palouse River, about 4 miles upstream of the confluence with the Snake River in southeast Washington. The falls are the reason that I came to the area.
The canyon at the falls is 377 feet deep, exposing a large cross-section of the Columbia River Basalt Group. The falls themselves are 198 feet high.
My next and only other stop today was just a few miles down the road at Lyon's Ferry State Park. It was a sunny and warm day. There were several families celebrating Father's Day by the water.
Lyons Ferry State Park is located near the confluence of the Snake and Palouse rivers. The picture below was taken from the park of the Snake River Bridge.
I probably should have scheduled more for today because I didn't have much to do. When I was planning the trip I considered driving all the way to Boise. That's where I am staying tomorrow. But that would have had me driving 422 miles. I don't really like driving that many miles in a day. Especially when I have already been on the road for over three weeks. So I decided to stay in Walla Walla, Washington tonight. Walla Walla was only sixty five miles from my last stop which had me getting to the hotel very early, before 1:00. I am staying at the Holiday Inn Express.
After getting settled I went out to get my only meal of the day. I couldn't find any interesting local restaurants so I went to Applebees.
I heard that Indy has been having some really nasty weather. I hope everyone is okay.
So long from Wa Wa, WA.
Tim
