FRIDAY, JULY 25, 2014:
Today I traveled 253 miles going from Chehalis to Vancouver, Washington.

I spent the morning and early afternoon in Mount Rainier National Park.
I enetered the park through the Nisqually Entrance.
My first scenic stop was at Christine Falls.
Seen below is the lower tier of the 69 foot waterfall on Van Trump Creek.
After the early morning fog lifted it was a crystal clear day.
Mount Rainier is the highest mountain of the Cascade Range of the Pacific Northwest.
It is the most topographically prominent mountain in the contiguous United States,
with a summit elevation of 14,411 feet.
Mount Rainier is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world.
Narada Falls is said to be the most popular in the park, because the
Mount Rainier Highway crosses the falls between its two tiers.
After leaving the park I drove to Vancouver, Washington where I spent the night.

Hello Folks, I woke up this morning at 6:30 and it was foggy and raining, so I went back to bed. I finally set out at 8:30 and it was still completely bleak with fog and rain. I started heading for Mount Rainier despite the conditions. It took less than a half hour for the fog to lift and the clouds to move out. By 9:00 there wasn't a cloud in the sky and it stayed that way all day. I got to the park at about 10:00.  My first scenic stop was at Christine Falls. It's kind of difficult to see the falls because they are in the shadow of the bridge.  This is the my second visit to Mount Rainier National Park. The last time I don't think I ever got to see the peak because it was covered in clouds. That was definitely not the case today.  Below is a nice close-up of the 14,410 foot high summit.  My feet had to survive a hike down a steep hill to get this picture of Narada Falls.  Below is a picture of Mt. Rainier across Reflection Lake. The water was too choppy for a reflection but it is still a pretty picture.  Below is a picture of Mount Rainier as I was descending through Stevens Canyon.  It was a really pretty drive through the park but it took a lot more time than I thought. After the park I was going to go to Mount St. Helens. But I just didn't have the energy for another 120 miles of driving so I didn't go and headed for my hotel in Vancouver, Washington which is across the river from Portland, Oregon. Tonight is my fourth and final night in the state of Washington. I got to my hotel at 5:30, stopped and got some sandwiches to take back to the room and settled in for the night.
