Today I drove 371 miles traveling from Bozeman, Montana to Glendive, Montana.

The fifty minute video below covers yesterday afternoon as well as today's drive across Montana.

MY DAILY EMAIL SENT ON JUNE 21, 2018
Hello,

Late yesterday afternoon I was looking out my Bozeman hotel window as the rain was falling. The temperature dropped to 35 degrees and the rain became very thick. There was a winter storm warning out for those above 5000 feet. Bozeman's elevation is 4820. This is not what I expected for the first day of summer.

This morning I hit the road at about 8:30. I drove nonstop to Billings which was about a 170 mile drive on Interstate 90. It was a cloudy drive but only a few drops of rain. Once in Billings I drove to the top of the Rimrocks which is Billings most distinguishable landmark. Below is a picture of Billings from the top of the Rimrocks.

Next I drove nonstop 220 miles on Interstate 94 to Glendive, Montana. It started off really gloomy and then it rained for about an hour.

Then the closer I got to Glendive the more the clouds started to break up.

Interstate 94 is a pretty desolate highway. A few trucks but very few cars. I don't think I was passed once the entire 220 miles.

I got to Glendive shortly after 2:00. This is one of the dumpiest towns I have ever stayed in. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Express. It's one of about six chain hotels at this exit but no chain restaurants. There is a couple of local diners but no one had anything good to say about them on the Internet. Glendive is 35 miles west of the North Dakota border.

I ordered food from Pizza Hut. It was in an almost abandoned strip mall away from the Interstate. I think Pizza Hut was the only store still operating there. I tried their P'Zone. I had never had one. It was good. My cold is a little better today but my ribs are still very sore from coughing.

Glendive's most notable tourist attraction is just north of town on a small lake called Glendisaurus. The dinosaur is a Triceratops-inspired creature that was built between 1994-1997 as a community art project. An information plaque in front of it tells the brief story of how Glendisaurus came to be, noting that community members volunteered time and money to create the statue.

Are you still awake? That completed my exciting day.
