WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 11, 2021:

Today I drove 435 miles traveling from Mooresville, Indiana to Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

Today was the start of my planned seven-week-long late summer road trip.
I woke up early and drove to Wisconsin. I got to my first stop in Madison late in the morning.

Eleven minute video of Madison, Wisconsin.

During my exploration in Madison my new Golden Technologies mobility scooter broke down.
The same thing happened to me in Michigan a couple of months earlier.
The utterly incompetent Golden Technologies company finally replaced that scooter and sent me a new one.
I finished the Michigan trip. All went fine so a month later I left on this trip.
From Madison I drove to the Wisconsin Dells where I had hotel reservations for the evening.
When I got to town it was still early in the day so I took the Wisconsin Ducks excursion as I had planned.

Thirty minute video of my visit to the Wisconsin Dells.

MY DAILY EMAIL SENT ON AUGUST 11, 2021
Hello,

I left on my long summer road trip early this morning. I drove nonstop to Madison, Wisconsin. Below is the Wisconsin State Capitol Building.

Completed in 1917, it's the third building since Wisconsin was granted statehood in 1848. The Wisconsin State Capitol is the tallest building in Madison, legislation prohibits buildings taller than the columns surrounding the dome (187 feet).

The shot below was taken from Monona Terrace.

While I was scootering around Madison the new scooter, which worked fine last month in Michigan, broke down. Below is the spot in downtown Madison when I discovered the new scooter was having problems.

Pissed off, I continued to my next scheduled stop, the Wisconsin Dells. I took one of The Ducks tours, below you can see us plunging into the Wisconsin River.

After finishing my ducks excursion I proceeded to the poorly run Holiday Inn Express where I had a reservation.

They refused to give me my room since I was a little early, so I sat in the parking lot and called the Golden Technologies company about their worthless scooter. They were of absolutely no help. It was clear I was going to have to cancel my trip and return home. Below is my room after I was finally able to get in.

I then went out in the rain to get me some dinner. I stopped at the KFC in the picture below. They were out of the new chicken sandwich. I then tried to order whole wings but the ditz taking my order didn't seem to know what that was, so I left and went to Cracker Barrel.

I will be driving home tomorrow morning from the Wisconsin Dells. So for the second time I have to end a vacation and drive home because of that worthless scooter. I purchased my first Golden Buzzaround Carry-On Scooter back in May. I purchased the scooter for traveling, which I do a lot of. I tested the scooter out at home before leaving on my first trip in June. I love how easy it is to fold up and put in the back of my SUV. Takes about 30 seconds. I especially love the size of the battery. At only six pounds I can carry a spare battery with me and don't have to worry about running out of power. Satisfied with my new scooter I left home on my first trip.

On the second day of my trip I started to have some mechanical problems with the scooter. By day five it completely broke down. I had to return home weeks early to deal with the problem. The manufacturer, Golden, was a nightmare to deal with. I was repeatedly promised things that were never delivered upon. My emails went ignored. Every person I dealt with would try to pass the buck on to someone else.

I did finally get a replacement scooter delivered to my home and I resumed my trip in July. The new scooter preformed well and I did not have any more problems. The malfunction of the first scooter cost me well over $1000 in travel expenses. Not to mention considerable time and trouble. But the worst part of the situation was the poor customer service at Golden. Despite the fact that I do still like this scooter, I would be very hesitant to ever purchase another Golden product.

At some point later I got an email request from Golden to submit a product review, which I did. In the review I outlined all the problems I experienced with their customer service. This was the exact reply I got to the review: "Have you contacted the dealer you purchased the unit from? They should be able to assist you." No apology, no nothing, just once again passing the buck to someone else.

Now in August I set out on this trip and the replacement scooter breaks down. I return home where I spend weeks trying to return this scooter for a refund. They finally send me a box to send it back in. It is enormous with no packing materials.

I send them this email: "I sent you a picture of the unit in the box. If that is acceptable to you have it picked up. Passing the buck on to me and suggesting that this huge empty box can be packaged in such a way to prevent movement during shipping is not realistic. There are only two pieces of any size. The scooter and the seat. I can place the seat beside the scooter like is shown in the picture I sent you. Or I can move the seat on top of the scooter. You tell me how you want it and I'll seal the box and you can come and get this worthless piece of junk. Either way there will be movement."

They finally send a local dealer to pick it up and then weeks later I finally get my refund. I obviously had major problems with Golden Technologies product. But as bad as that was, their customer service was far worse. They are without a doubt the most imcompetent and unreasonable people on planet Earth!
