SATURDAY, JULY 3, 2021:

Today I drove 110 miles traveling from Traverse City, Michigan to Mackinaw City, Michigan.

Saturday was a great day. The weather was perfect as were the small towns I visited.
The first exceptionally beautiful town of the day was Charlevoix.
Watch the video below to see how I spent my time in this charming little city.

You can watch them raise the drawbridge in this twenty minute video of Charlevoix, Michigan.

Only twenty five miles away from Charlevoix is the community of Harbor Springs.
The town sits on the top of Little Traverse Bay and couldn't be more picturesque.
Watch the video below to find out for yourself about the beauty of this town.

My final stop of the day was in Mackinaw City where I spent three nights over the July 4th weekend.
The video below covers my activities in Mackinaw City, which include Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse,
a spectacular sunset cruise around the Mackinac Bridge and July 4th fireworks.

Must see 48 minute video from Mackinaw City, Michigan.

MY DAILY EMAIL SENT ON JULY 3, 2021
Hello folks,

Weather continues to be great here on Michigan's lower peninsula. I left Traverse City shortly before 8:00 this morning before President Biden got here. Below you can see President Joe Biden holding a cone at Moomers Homemade Ice Cream during his visit here today.

Also from a New York Post article, below you can see the presidential limousine at at Moomers Homemade Ice Cream in Traverse City earlier today.

I drove about forty miles to Charlevoix. I am falling in love with these beautiful Michigan towns. Below is a mural that was painted on the side of a downtown drug store.

As I came into town this morning I stopped to see the world's largest cherry pie. The cherry festival is going on right now in Traverse City. I hear President Biden tried some of the cherries today.

Below I am arriving in beautiful downtown Charlevoix on Bridge Street (US-31). That's East Park on the right which looks out onto Round Lake.

Another local attraction here in town is the Mushroom House. It is available for you to rent. It has three stories with a Master Suite on each floor. There are 6 bedrooms, 5 1/2 baths as well as a media room in this one-of-a-kind thatch house.

If you watch the video you can see them raise the draw bridge that is in the picture below.

The picture below was taken from on top of the draw bridge looking down onto the Pine River.

I spent two or three hours in this beautiful town this morning. Below is the Charlevoix South Pier Light Station.

Below is the beautiful Charlevoix Historic Train Depot.

Next I made a couple short stops in Petoskey. The picture below is from Bayfront Park.

Up next was the outstandingly beautiful Michigan town, Harbor Springs. Below is an elevated look.

Next I drove down to the harbor and explored the dock area. There sure were a lot of expensive boats docked here. I have not seen so many nice boats and yachts since I was in Monte Carlo.

Next I journeyed through the downtown area. It was very busy here today. I was lucky to find a place to park.

They were having a farmers market today. I didn't buy anything but it was nice looking around.

Next I made my way to the very top of the lower peninsula, Mackinaw City. Below is the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse. There appears to be some sort of bridge structure behind the lighthouse.

I found out that the bridge is called the Mackinac Bridge and that it connects the lower and upper peninsulas. I was wondering how I was going to get to the other side. It looks sturdy.

Below is one more shot of the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse with the bridge in the back.

Next you can see me pulling into my hotel, the Best Western Plus Dockside Waterfront Inn.

The hotel appears to have some age on it. But I have a comfortable enough room with a patio looking out onto Lake Huron.

This evening I took a sunset boat cruise under the Mackinac Bridge. It was a beautiful clear night and the sunset was spectacular. Unfortunately I did not have my good camera to capture it. But the below shot didn't come out too bad which surprised me.

It was almost 10:00 by the time I got off the boat and everything in town was closed. So I had some ham and cheese wraps from food I had in my cooler for my dinner.

That's it for today. Have a happy July 4 tomorrow!
