Hello Folks,

You were probably all wondering if I was ever going to make it out of West Virginia. Well, I did today. But I did make one more quick stop in West Virginia before leaving, and that was at the historic Greenbrier Hotel. Since 1778, visitors have traveled to this part of West Virginia to "take the waters" of the area. Today, The Greenbrier is situated in White Sulphur Springs on 11,000 acres with 710 guest rooms, 20 restaurants and lounges, more than 55 indoor and outdoor activities and sports, and 36 retail shops. The guard at the gate let me come in and take a picture.

A few miles past White Sulphur Springs I crossed the border into the great state of Virginia. Today was mainly a travel day. I took the Interstate north to just above Shenandoah National Park. That will put me in position to start my five-day trek down Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Tonight I ended my short uneventful day in Winchester, Virginia. On my way into town I passed the Patsy Cline House. 608 South Kent Street, in a working-class neighborhood of Winchester, was the home from 1948 to 1953 of Virginia Patterson Hensley, who later became the country music star known as Patsy Cline.

I also made a short stop in Old Town.

For over 250 years, Old Town Winchester hosts over 30 restaurants, 60 shops and numerous historic sites and museums. With a beautiful pedestrian mall.

Next I checked into the local Candlewood Suites. After I got settled I went to see the Joker movie at the AMC theater down the street.

Joaquin Phoenix gave an outstanding performance but I found the movie to be way too dark and depressing for me. After the movie I rushed back to the hotel so I could bring you up to date on the events of the day. I'm now ready for dinner. Tonight I will get my food from Longhorn Steakhouse. Have a good evening.
