Howdy folks,
I finally got my money back for that worthless scooter that caused me so much grief this summer. I decided to buy another one. Different model and company of course. I have a trip planned for next spring, but I need to test out the new scooter before then. So I decided to take a little trip. So early this morning I drove down to Nashville, Tennessee. The first place I stopped was Andrew Jackson's Hermitage.
I was literally their first customer of the day. I took a tour of the mansion. Unfortunately photography was not allowed in the mansion. I was able to get one inside photo of the dining room.
Andrew Jackson was the seventh President of the United States. He and his wife Rachel are buried here on the plantation. His wife died days after his election and before he was inaugurated. Below is a picture of their tomb.
It was on in to downtown Nashville next. I checked into my hotel, the Hilton.
Below is the hotel atrium.
I got here at 11am and was surprised that I was able to get my room that early. I have a nice room on the 4th floor overlooking the hotel's atrium.
I didn't spend long in the room. It gets dark at 4:30 so I had to get out and explore before it got dark. Just behind the hotel is Broadway which was bustling with activity. It was a bright and sunny day but quite chilly. The 33 story AT&T building standing behind Broadway is the tallest building in the state of Tennessee.
You can see Ryman Auditorium in the picture above. Below is a little better look.
Next I walked across the John Steigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge which crosses the Cumberland River. The picture below was taken from the bridge. It is the General Jackson Showboat sailing in front of the Nashville skyline.
Pictured below is Nissan Stadium. The Titans were playing the Jaguars at the time. You could hear fans cheering inside the stadium. Unfortunately the Titans won the game 20-0.
I was going to do some more exploring but I was getting cold, tired and hungry. So I got me some dinner from Margaritaville just behind my hotel on Broadway.
I brought my food back to the hotel and ate it while watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Buffalo Bills on tv.
Below is another picture of Broadway after the sun went down.
The new scooter is still running after one day of use. That last experience has me a bit paranoid. I'm going to drive back home tomorrow.
