WINTER 1997 On January 27, 1997 I winged my way to Las Vegas, Nevada for a brief break from the Indiana winter. I stayed at the Tropicana Hotel while in Las Vegas. Below is a picture of the new New York, New York Hotel, across the street from the Tropicana. I spent a lot of my time hopping from casino to casino, not having much luck at any of them. On one nice sunny day I decided to drive up to Mount Charleston, about 40 miles northwest of Las Vegas. I also drove down to Hoover Dam. The picture below is of Lake Mead from the top of the dam. After I concluded my stay in Las Vegas, I drove down to Lake Havasu, Arizona. Below is a picture of London Bridge which is now located there. On my way back from Lake Havasu I spent the night in Laughlin, Nevada, which is about 95 miles south of Las Vegas. Pictured below is the Colorado River in the foreground and the Riverside Resort, where I stayed, in the back. After Laughlin I flew to San Francisco to spend a couple days before going back home. The picture below was taken on Treasure Island, which is in the middle of San Francisco Bay. Pictured below are my sister Barbara, her husband Chad, friend Dora, and my adorable nephew Jonathan.
