Hello Folks,
I left the hotel in Twin Falls this morning around 8:30. I had a relatively short driving day today, thank god. My cold is really bothering me. It was about a ninety mile drive to my first stop, Craters of the Moon National Monument.
Craters of the Moon is a vast ocean of lava flows with scattered islands of cinder cones and sagebrush.
I didn't think the trail to the top of the cinder cone was suitable for my scooter so I didn't go up. But several folks did.
It was all I could do to remain standing. There were gale force winds all day.
My next stop was 20 miles down the road in Arco, Idaho. On July 17, 1955 the lights of Arco were successfully powered from atomic energy.
Three U.S. highways ran together through this part of Idaho yet the road was almost completely deserted. Below are some rare vehicles on this desolate highway.
It was about an eighty mile drive to Idaho Falls from Arco. I passed 6000 miles traveled so far during the drive. When I got to Idaho Falls I visited the falls.
The falls are in the center of the city. This is the Snake River. Idaho Falls is the second largest city in the state behind Boise.
Do the traffic circles in your town look like this one?
I'm checked into my hotel here in Idaho Falls. I'm staying at the Hampton Inn. It's a nice enough room but the TV isn't HD. What is this, the dark ages? Which means I can't connect to Netflix tonight unless I want to watch from my computer. I guess it could be worse, it could have been a black and white set.
I got me some cold medicine at Walgreens and some dinner from Texas Roadhouse, now I am going to bed.
Tim
