Today I drove 99 miles roundtrip over to Franconia Notch State Park.

The highlight of the day was riding the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway.

The Kancamagus Highway is the scenic road that runs between North Conway where I am
staying and Franconia Notch. Below is one of the many scenic views along the highway.

Lower Falls is one of the most popular stops on the Kancamagus Highway,
especially during hot summer weather as many people swim here during low water.

MY DAILY EMAIL SENT ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2016
Hello Again,

It was a perfect fall day in New England. A little cool this morning but a nice warm and sunny afternoon. Today I drove over to the Franconia Notch area. It was about a 45 mile drive from where I am staying here in North Conway. Once over at Franconia Notch State Park I rode the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway. Below is a picture of Cannon Mountain, and if you look real close you can see a tram at the top of the mountain.

In case you're blind like me, below is a little closer look at the yellow tram. The other one is red.

This is one of the first places I ever visited without my parents. Dan, me and my other brother Mike came up here in 1974 when I was only 14. But back in the old days they weren't using these modern trams. They were using the ones now in the museum.

Below is a picture of Echo Lake from the tram ride up.

It was a little cool on top. This was the first tramway ever built in North America.

The pictures above and below are from the top of the mountain. You can see five states and Canada from up there.

To get over here from North Conway I took the Kancamagus Highway. A very scenic road with some interesting places to stop. On the way over in the morning I didn't stop at any of the scenic points, but I did on the way back. The picture below was taken from Kancamagus Pass, the highest point on the highway.

I wanted to visit the Flume over in Franconia Notch. But the walk through the gorge is 2 miles up hill which ruled that out. But I did get to walk through a rocky gorge along the Kancamagus Highway.

It was a pretty area.

There was another rocky area that you could walk out over the boulders to the lower falls.

That concluded today's activities.
