WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2012:

After four days at sea it was nice to get off the ship on Wednesday.
Unfortunately it wasn't a very nice day, complete overcast and a light rain.
We docked on Bermuda's west end at the Royal Navy Dock Yard.
My first shore excursion of the day was conducted by taxi.
Our first stop was at the Gibbs Lighthouse.
That was followed by a stop in the capital city of Hamilton.

All of the images below are thumbnails and can be clicked on for a larger image.

We returned to the ship along the beach road
where we got a nice view of the pink sand beaches.

In the afternoon I took a harbor cruise for which the weather greatly improved.

We passed by many beautiful multi-million-dollar homes.

We also got a nice view of downtown hamilton from the harbor.

The cruise returned to the Royal Navy Dock Yard just in time to sail away on the Grand Princess.
This was the final stop on the cruise before reaching Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.

MY DAY IN BERMUDA VIDEO

MY DAILY EMAIL SENT ON NOVEMBER 14, 2012
Hello folks,

After four days at sea crossing the Atlantic it was good to get off the ship today. We docked on Bermuda's West End at 8:30 this morning. Bermuda is a 22 mile long island shaped like a fish hook. The island is two miles wide at its widest point and only a few hundred yards at its narrowest. Unfortunately it was not a very nice day. Completely overcast and a fairly steady rain. There are no bus tours on the island due to its narrow roads, so my morning tour of the island was done by a six passenger mini-van. We stopped at the lighthouse where there was a nice view, or would have been if it wasn't raining.

We made a stop in Hamilton, the capitol city. We had about a half hour to walk around town.

Next we returned to the ship along the beach road. Due to the rain the famous pink sand beaches looked brown. But the views were still nice even though it was raining.

We got back to the port about twenty minutes before my coastal cruise was to leave. This is when the skies really opened up. I almost went back to the ship but decided to stick it out. I am glad I did. About 15 minutes into the cruise it cleared up and the rest of the afternoon was beautiful. On the cruise we passed by dozens of multi million dollar mansions. Like the one seen below.

The house below is on its own private island. It's owned by the richest guy in the western hemisphere.

Below is a nice picture of Hamilton from the harbor.

The building with the clock tower on the right is the Bermuda Parliament Building. Below is a closer look at the building behind the cargo ship.

Below is a picture looking back on Hamilton across the harbor. The most amazing part of the picture is the blue sky. It has been a LONG time since I have seen blue sky.

The ship was docked at the Royal Navy Dock Yard.

We got back to shore just in time to sail away.

We are now sailing for Fort Lauderdale across the infamous Bermuda Triangle.. We have two more days at sea before we get there. This will probably be my last email since I will be flying home immediately after I get off the ship on Saturday. My next trip will be on January 30 when I leave for India. Hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving.
