Today I traveled 358 miles on a very disappointing day
traveling from Lake Tahoe to Fresno, California.
My visit to Yosemite was interupted by a raging forest fire.

Hello folks, Today was an awful day. I left my hotel in Lake Tahoe at 7:00 this morning. I only got about 4 hours of sleep due to having cramps in my feet all night long. I started heading for Yosemite and I notice the check engine oil soon light come on. So I have that checked out in Carson City. Turns out there was absolutely nothing wrong, so they reset the warning light and I went on my way. I'm approaching Yosemite from the east side via the Tioga Road. There were signs on the highway saying that there was a fire in Yosemite but Tioga Pass was open. Below is a picture of the climb up to Tioga Pass just before entering the park.  And the picture below was taken looking the other direction from the same place.  This is extreme eastern California just west of the Nevada state line. Shortly after the pictures above were taken I entered Yosemite National Park. This is when I learned that the fire was very near Yosemite Valley and the road connecting the valley with Tioga road was closed. So in order to get to Yosemite Valley I would have to drive over 100 miles out of my way. I was so pissed. I decided not to go there. I feared even if I did go the views would be awful because of the smoke. You can see the smoke from the fire in the picture below.  So today I sat in the car driving from 7:00 until after 4:00 and saw almost nothing. Below is the only other picture I took from Yosemite. It's Tenaya Lake.  Below is a picture of the fire in Yosemite.  I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Fresno. The last time I got out of the car I was in Yosemite and it was about 70 degrees. When I got out of the car in Fresno it was over 100. I just finished dinner, the first thing I've had to eat since breakfast. I walked over to In N Out Burger which is two inches from my hotel.
