MY DAILY EMAIL SENT ON JULY 22, 2014
Hello folks,

I won't bore you with 20 pictures like yesterday. After breakfast at my hotel in Kalispell, I hit the road at about 8:30, a late start for me. It was a 120 mile drive south on US-93 to Missoula. It was gloomy with light rain on the way down. In Missoula I hopped on I-90 and headed west. It was another 110 mile drive to my first stop of the day, Wallace, Idaho. Weather had greatly improved by the time I got here. Wallace is a small historic town of less than 1000 people. As you can see in the picture below, it isn't far off the interstate. That is I-90 directly behind the old railroad depot.

My next stop was 8 miles down the road in Kellogg, Idaho. Here I rode the Silver Mountain gondola.

It took about 15 minutes to get to the top.

There wasn't much to see at the top. The place was pretty much deserted. I pretty much came right back down. In the picture below you can see the town of Kellogg, Idaho.

My last stop was 30 more miles down the road in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho.

Unfortunately the mostly cloudy skies didn't make a very good picture of the beautiful lake here. I took a short walk through the pretty park along the lake.

It was only 30 more miles to my final destination of the day, Spokane, Washington. I am staying at the Northern Quest Casino and Resort. This place appears to be brand new. It is quite large. 14 restaurants. The sports bar has an amazing 30 foot long TV screen. There was a baseball game on when I was in there. I'd love to watch a Colts game on that thing. The rooms are also very hi tech and modern.

I turned my clock back an hour since I am now on Pacific time. That made it 4:00, the starting time for the dinner buffet. I was quite hungry. The only thing I had eaten all day was my bowl of cereal at breakfast. I made up for it now though. The buffet was delicious. It was even better than the lavish buffets on my cruises.

After dinner I did a little gambling. I didn't care much for the casino. The slot games were too new and modern. It was like playing on your computer. I quickly lost about $60 and called it quits.

I plan to cross the state of Washington tomorrow. There are forest fires all of the place here. One of them is the largest in the states history. That is what was blowing smoke into Montana while I was there. I hope they aren't near I-90.

More later,

Tim
