Emily Thorne is new to the Hamptons. She's met some of her wealthy neighbors,
has made a few new friends and seemingly blends into the town. But something
is a little odd about a young girl living in a wealthy town all on her own,
and the truth is that Emily isn't exactly new to the neighborhood.
In fact, this was once her old neighborhood, until something bad happened
that ruined her family and their reputation. Now Emily is back, and she's
returned to right some of those wrongs in the best way she knows how – with a vengeance.
Wealth, beauty and status define the people in this town,
but one woman is willing to destroy everyone for the sake of revenge.
Emily Thorne is the newest arrival in the Hamptons this summer. By all appearances, she’s a
friendly and sophisticated “girl next door,” whose disarming charm and generosity allows her
seamless access to the restricted circles of Hamptons high society. But the affluent, exclusive
world she’s immersed herself in is tied to a dark family history and Emily Thorne is anything
but what she seems. As a nine year old girl, Emily’s father was framed for a horrific crime by
the friends and coworkers he trusted and sentenced to a life in prison. Emily never saw her
father again and spent her childhood consumed by rage, loss, and betrayal. Now 17 years later,
Emily has returned under an assumed identity with one endgame—REVENGE, every social overture
a carefully planned chip at the foundation of her sworn enemies, until their lives come crashing
down around them. Emily’s goal is unwavering and her sharp mind is always five steps ahead,
but when her past begins to catch up, her true heart may get caught in the crossfire.
Victoria Grayson is the glamorous and powerful matriarch of the Grayson family and the reigning
Queen of the Hamptons social scene. As the wife of a billionaire, she appears to have it all:
the perfect husband, children, and home. But these are just the trappings that house a much darker
secret—her culpability in the events that destroyed Emily Thorne’s life. Mired in her many secrets
and lies, and a true love-lost that haunts her every day, Victoria is strikingly suspicious of her
new neighbor Emily, who’s taken a keen interest in Victoria’s son, Daniel. Knowing that nothing in
life is coincidental, Victoria is determined to find out Emily’s real intentions and protect the
life she has sacrificed so much for by any means necessary.
Conrad Grayson is the CEO of Grayson Global and head of the Grayson family. He’s well respected
among his peers in both business and Hamptons’ societ. A shrewd and successful tycoon who operates
with questionable moral integrity. Conrad is ruthless and willing to do whatever it takes to ensure
he slithers out of potentially scandalous situations unscathed—and he’s got the skeletons of
previous scandals to prove it. But with the arrival of Emily Thorne,
Conrad will finally have to atone for his many past sins.
Daniel Grayson is Victoria and Conrad’s son, and an all-American boy of privilege.
Daniel’s life embodies all that comes with being the firstborn of a wealthy family—high expectations
to succeed, partnered with a penchant for getting into any and all trouble his family can buy his
way out of. But when his party-boy ways culminated in a messy drunk driving accident the previous
summer, Daniel’s free-pass was revoked by his parents and replaced with stricter boundaries and
even higher expectations. Now Daniel has returned to the Hamptons after a semester at Harvard
Business School, struggling to face the demons of his past and re-imagine the life he wants to
live and the man he wants to be. In this fragile state, Daniel’s unable to resist Emily Thorne’s
beauty, kindness, and wise counsel, unknowing that he is the entrée she’s counting on to
infiltrate and bring down the family that’s invested so much in him.
Charlotte Grayson is her father’s pride and joy, the youngest daughter of the Grayson clan.
A rich coquettish teenager always on the prowl for fun. But Charlotte’s no dummy, as she defies
expectations with her perfect academic record at school. Charlotte easily fits right in with
the “mean girls” of the Hamptons, but there’s a curiosity streak that draws her to the
troubled boys from the “wrong side of the tracks.” Throughout the summer, as she dives head
first into forbidden romance, Charlotte constantly struggles to get away from the condemnatory
eye of a mother who’s honest affection has always eluded her.
Nolan Ross is a tech genius and social misfit. A Mark Zuckerberg meets Howard Hughes type,
he has more money than nearly anyone on the island, but has learned the hard lesson that it
takes more than vast fortune to cull social acceptance in the Hamptons. Nolan’s pompous and
arrogant, but secretly starved for human connection. Though in public he’s unfamiliar with
Emily Thorne, the truth is he shares a link to her past, present, and above all, her secret.
Being the one and only person who knows who Emily really is makes him
either a useful accessory or a live wire threat to her true agenda.
Jack Porter is a blue-collar son of a dock worker who’s spent his entire adult life helping
his father manage the Stowaway Tavern, a local hangout for the common folk of Montauk.
Though he’s loyal to the core, Jack’s always had aspirations of escape—nomadic dreams of
sailing around the world and carving out an adventure of his own, but dedication to his hard
luck family has always conspired to keep him landlocked. When fate (and a yellow Lab) brings
Emily Thorne into his life, Jack is unable to shake a déjà vu-like connection to her.
With intimate knowledge of Emily’s former life as the little girl he knew as Amanda Clarke,
Jack’s growing interest in the strangely familiar new girl could throw
a serious wrench into Emily’s carefully crafted agenda.
Declan Porter is Jack’s troubled kid brother. Well-intentioned but rough around the edges,
he’s an outsider among his peers, frustrated with the lot he’s been dealt in life.
Declan is both intrigued and aroused by the wealthy world of the elite vacationers that
populate his town every summer, and his interest finds a target in the
sassy but good hearted Charlotte Grayson.
Ashley Davenport is a social climber on the rise and Emily’s closest friend in this world.
She has the skinny on all the inner circles of the Hamptons, and access to all events in
the elite social scene. Making a name for herself as the go-to event planner, Ashley hopes
to gain entrée into Victoria Grayson’s good graces and solidify her status amongst the
Hamptonites. But being close friends with Emily will eventually prove to have an unseen price.
Revenge is universal.
As primal as the need for love, sex, or the feeding of a searing hunger.
