The first thing I did was drive into Washington and check into the JW Marriott Hotel.
This is a four star hotel conveniently located on Pennsylvania Avenue
just a couple blocks from the White House.

After getting settled in my accomodations I set out on a walking tour of Washington D.C.

My first stop was the World War II Memorial.
This beautiful memorial was not here the last time I was in Washington.

It was a fairly nice Saturday afternoon, a little hazy, temps in the mid eighties.
This is looking east across the memorial toward the Washington Monument.

Walking west down the mall from the WWII Memorial, the next stop is the Lincoln Memorial.

My favorite memorial honors our nation's sixteenth president.

Just across from the Lincoln Memorial is the Korean War Veterans Memorial.

It was a beautiful Sunday morning as I drove to Annapolis, Maryland.

The Maryland State House.

The Government House, has been the home to Maryland Governors for over 125 years.

It was a picture perfect day for my cruise on Chesapeake Bay.

and the death of Chief Justice William Rehnquist.

The view looking east toward the capitol was into the sun and did not yield an acceptable picture.

Arlington National Cemetery.
Arlington House is at the top of the hill,
the grave of Robert Kennedy is at the bottom of the hill
and the grave of President John F. Kennedy at the top of the stairs.
