ANCHORAGE & VICINITY
Anchorage is a small city with a population of 277,000 people which is 42% of the state's population.
While small in population Anchorage is large in size covering 1955 square miles, the size of the state of Delaware.
Alaska is actually the northern, western and easternmost point in the United States.
The Aleutian Chain extends into the Eastern Hemisphere.
About 40 miles northeast of Anchorage is beautiful Knik Glacier.
I took a boat trip to the face of Knik Glacier with Glacier Jet.
The Seward Highway south of Anchorage along Turnagain Arm is a very scenic stretch of raod.
A short boardwalk leads to the water to view the bore tide,
a rushing wall of water up to 6 feet high at Bird Point.
A waterfall tumbles over boulders into a still pond impounded by a 70-foot cliff at McHugh Creek.
